The Origin
SELF-INTROFUCTION
Nice to meet you. My name is Kyohei Nomura, a second-year student in the science and mathematics department at Yamaguchi Prefectural Yamaguchi High School. I am currently the project manager for the team "Hana-SAKURA-Racing," which is made up of students from the science and mathematics department and the humanities and science department and will be representing Japan in "STEM Racing," an international STEM education competition hosted by Formula 1, as part of the inquiry learning program. Our goal is not only to be a completely new practical educational model that challenges "from the local area to the world," but also to be the starting point of a "practical STEM education cycle in the position of receiving education" through "giving back" activities that utilize these experiences to the elementary and junior high school students who will be the leaders of the next generation.
WHAT IS STEM RACING?
We will be participating in the international "STEM Racing" competition, known as F1 in Schools, which is part of a global STEM education promotion program. This competition is an educational project officially sponsored by F1 (Formula 1), and is a very prestigious competition in which junior and senior high school students and students from all over the world participate. In the competition, participating teams will race using miniature F1 cars (CO₂ car racers) that they have designed and built themselves, and in addition to technical aspects such as speed, aerodynamic performance, and design innovation, they will be evaluated on their overall strengths, such as branding, marketing strategy, teamwork, and portfolios and presentations that summarize these. The competition is scheduled to be held in Thailand in October 2025. Teams from all over the world will gather together and compete on their technologies and ideas on a global stage. It is not just a race, but also requires project management skills that are relevant to the real world, international communication skills, and a deep understanding and application of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). This competition is a gateway to success for young people who aim to become engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs in the future. Through this challenge, we hope to put into practice a new educational model that takes on the challenge of "from local to global," and to expand the circle of sustainable innovation that involves the entire Yamaguchi Prefecture.
ABOUT THE FLOW OF ACTIVITIES
Our team is taking the following steps to participate in the STEM Racing International Competition:
Team composition and role allocation
We clearly define who will be responsible for design, branding, public relations, presentations, etc., and form a team of 3 to 6 people.
Body design and manufacturing
We design a mini F1 car based on fluid dynamics, then use CAD, 3D printers, and processing equipment to repeatedly create and test prototypes.
Acquiring sponsors and local collaboration
We will call for cooperation from local companies, educational institutions, and local governments, with the aim of creating a system that will support the "challenge to the world" as a unified region.
Presentation materials and branding production
They create all the elements they need for judging by themselves, including creating logos and team uniforms, preparing presentations and portfolios, etc.
Participating in competitions and interacting with the world
The students will compete in a competition to be held in Thailand in October, where they will compete against student teams from all over the world, showcasing their technical skills, creativity and teamwork.
Giving back to the community (communicating with the community)
After the competition, the participants will hold local reports and workshops to become "new role models for education that spreads its wings from the local area to the global stage," as well as to communicate their results and what they learned to elementary and junior high school students and companies, and to promote STEM education.

FUTURE CHALLENGES AND CROWDFUNDING REQUESTS
While these activities provide a great opportunity for learning and growth, they also pose the challenge of coming to bear a huge financial burden.
The costs of participating in the tournament include:
・Vehicle development costs (equipment, materials, etc.)
・Team travel expenses (airfare, accommodation, transportation, etc.)
・Presentation materials, team wear, and booth production costs
・Entry-related costs
It would be extremely difficult for high school students to cover all of these costs on their own. Therefore, we would like to ask for your support through crowdfunding to cover part of the costs. Your support will be a great help in supporting our challenge, and will lead to hope for the future of this educational model originating from Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Crowdfunding is scheduled to begin soon. Once it has begun, we will announce it on this website.

PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD
In addition, "spreading information" is also extremely important for crowdfunding to be successful.
・Spreading on social media
・Share with friends and family
・Introductions to educational and corporate organizations
A little encouragement from each and every one of us will go a long way in moving our activities forward.

LASTLY
We are working hard to take on the unprecedented challenge of "taking on a global challenge involving the local community." The road ahead will not be smooth, but we sincerely hope to take a definite step forward for the next generation of education and innovation.
Please support our challenge.
And I would be happy if you could join me in making this dream come true.
